 | Acumen provide waste oil collection and disposal services for lubricating oils and associated automotive waste streams from vehicle service facilities (garages) that carry out oil changes on cars, trucks, buses and trains. Waste oils are also collected from industry and we provide as waste oil recycling service; these may be contaminated with water and chemicals.
The other automotive waste streams are also collected, such as oil filters, oily rags and spill absorbent granules, antifreeze, diesel contaminated with petrol and vice versa. Also solvents, batteries, brake fluid etc.
The waste oil is recycled through a refinery process that removes the contaminants and the lubricating oil additives such as zinc and calcium, to produce a BS2869 fuel oil product that complies with the Environment Agency’s Processed Fuel Oil (PFO) Protocol and can be used instead of virgin fuel oils in power stations, road stone coating plants, glass plants, breweries, dairies, hospitals etc.
Some of the other automotive streams can also be recycled. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be recycled from waste oil filters, lead can be recycled from lead-acid batteries, petrol and diesel can be separated by distillation, antifreeze can be recovered for re-use etc.
